Mistletoe in Manhattan – Talli Roland

As the daughter of Christmas-any-time party planners, Holly West has been surrounded by the holiday spirit since birth. Trouble is, she’s not exactly filled with festive cheer. In fact, Holly can’t wait to ditch the Santa suit for champagne and celebs, and become a party planner to the stars.

When TV star Dean Layton hires her parents’ company to throw his holiday bash in Manhattan, Holly jumps at the chance to help, confident she can handle a little Christmas in exchange for access to Dean’s exclusive world.

But New York and Dean’s over-the-top demands are more than Holly bargained for. Can Holly deck the halls and make it a party to be proud of, or will this Christmas end her dreams for good?

Holly West, a 22 year old from an English village, finds herself in New York organising the Christmas party of all Christmas parties.  She is used to being the Elf for her parents’ all year round Christmas party company but celebrity Dean Layton is in a different league.  Can she pull this off and make her dreams come true or is it a case of be careful what you wish for?

A delightful short read, great for curling up on the sofa on a cosy wintery night.

Mistletoe in Manhattan  also gives readers a sneak peek of Talli Roland’s novel The Pollyanna Plan, due out late November.

Construct A Couple – Talli Roland

Is any relationship strong enough to survive a string of secrets?

With a great job at a reputable magazine and a man who’s the perfect match, Serenity Holland thinks she’s laid the foundation for an ideal London life. When a routine assignment uncovers a shocking secret threatening her boyfriend’s company, Serenity decides to leave nothing to chance, taking matters into her own hands. Soon, though, she realises keeping secrets isn’t as easy as she thought . . . and the consequences are far worse than she ever imagined.

My Thoughts

I found Talli Roland’s style of writing, first person present, refreshing and a nice change from the usual third person I tend to read.  Although written with a light touch it did look at deeper problems within a relationship.  I felt I really got to know Serenity and could empathise with her as she tried to do the best all the time and found herself between a rock and a hard place.

I liked the plot behind the story and the setting, together with the supporting characters which all contributed to a really rounded novel.

I wasn’t sure about Jeremy and several times I felt that Serenity should tell him to push off. Whether she did or not, you will be able to find out by reading this gentle and sweet novel.
